ASU Men’s swimming was cut out of the Arizona State University intercollegiate sports
budget in May 2008. By July, 2008, the alumni and other friends of ASU swimming had
mobilized and secured the program’s reinstatement. The Sun Devil Swimming Association
(non-profit 501c3) has been created to ensure the success of both Men’s and Women’s swimming programs at ASU and its Mission Statement is:
Mission Statement
Establish an endowment and supporting organization in cooperation with the Athletic
Department to ensure the permanent reinstatement of the Men’s Swimming Team and
the permanent operation of the Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving teams at
Arizona State University.
Goals of the Sun Devil Swimming Association
- Fund ASU Men’s swimming operational costs
- Create an Endowment for ASU Men’s Swimming of a minimum $7M to secure the future
- Create an Endowment for ASU Women’s Swimming of $7M to protect their future
- Help other college teams start their own endowment funds to protect the future of college swimming in general
